Ugh. I installed as per the instructions for upgrading a whole tick of a version and none of my data is there. Poof! Gone!!! No threads, no templates, but all of my plug ins.

I'm going to reload the backed up copy but would like to know how to upgrade (so the image button works in the editor??) and keep my data?

I tried to overwrite the files with my backup, but that didn't work either. How can I fix it?

if you are directly uploading through web host's file manager then that may not work perfectly.
you need to use a good ftp program (eg. filezilla). see Comparison of FTP client software

I did use filezilla. Our forum is down and I'm in big trouble. Can you tell me how to fix this?

Just 1 question why are you upgrading to 1.6.8 when the latest release is 1.6.9

I was upgrading to 1.6.9. Guess this is in the category of no resolution.

You need to reupload a backup of the database, not the files.

Sorry just the title confused me a little bit, how did reinstalling the database go.
