I frequent this one forum that is running phpBB2 and they just upgraded their forum the newer release and installed a boatload of mods to it....one of which was to be able to embed .rm -links for example in the post...and it shows nicely the realmedia control-bar in the message (play/pause/forward etc.)
Any plans of getting this in in any future version because I might have a need for it.

I am not sure if it is a mod or standard (probably mod considering it's quite rarely used).
I fail to see your logic though with one being better than another...surely if it is there, you don't have to use it...or even activate it for the forums...but if you need it...like I am likely to need (videos from our annual reunions which is our sole fund-raiser could significantly boost registration-rates) it would be very useful.
There's nothing really annoying or 'un'-annoying about it....you don't like...no need to use it...it's just a feature....now if it was a onload(play-this-stupid-jingle-and-repeat-it-million-times)....now that would be annoying...

I think it may depend on if your hosting package allows you to stream these media file types.
in my case I have authority for even live-streaming....let alone storing a few 3-15MB mediafiles....it's only question about convenience....I can just as easily put a link to a MPG file in a post there...but I though it would look nicer/cooler if the people read the post and they can see there's something like RealMedia controlpanel already in the post....all you have to do is to press play (assuming you have the player installed)

Well, I do not want to download something I dont want to use. This would be better off as a mod, cause Im sure not a lot of people would use this (except music and movie forums) and it doesn't fit in with the "forum" theme.
Adding things that will only be used be used by 4-5 forums or less, is IMO pointless. I am sure

Yeah this is more of a MOD than a feature. It would get rather annouying too. Plus people with not much bandwidth would suffer from it.
Plus not many poeple will use it most probably too! It'll just get left apart from those music&video fans will most probably use it.
So yeah request it as a MOD @ either one of those two sites that was stated above.
