Just a heads up to the staff - the myBB Demo forum (http://www.forum-software.org/demo/mybb) needs to be updated. It's still running 1.6.4.

I had to double check to see if a feature was included by default, and wasn't able to find it in the demo, but saw the appropriate code in the Git Repo. I'm guessing it was added since 1.6.4. Smile
We are not running this demo, there is nothing we can do. Unfortunatly www.forum-software.org seams to be dead anyway.
Fair enough. Just wanted to let you guys know if there was something you could do it about it.
Installatron has one, if you did need one.

http://installatron.com/mybb/demo (1.6.13)

OpenSourceCMS used to, not sure if their site is down for good or just now or something.
It might be a good idea to change out the demo link on the myBB website to that one.
MyBB used to host one here, and it's still linked on the mods page. Someone should clean that up, or maybe that could be something to look at.

mybb should host a demo of its own forum software, like a lot of the other forum softwares out there do.

for it to not have 1 set up is a tragedy.

This. The notion that this community acts as a demo is a little crazy. The major beauty of MyBB is within its ACP and theming. Neither of those are available to the general public in this community. If the other demos are not being kept up-to-date, then it's inaccurately representing MyBB. A full demo, reset on the hour or something, maintained by MyBB and always updated, would look more professional to people looking to pick.

The issue with ourselves hosting the demo is we are currently tiny got push ourselves to release 1.8 in the next few months, with a few surprises after that - we don't have time to setup a forum that will automatically reset, be secure, etc.

I'll bring it up again, but someone would have to be taken out of their current role to get a setup going. At this point we're disappointed in ourselves for not delivering as soon as we'd like and we wouldn't want to make the community wait longer than needed.

Right, I don't think any of us were implying that this is a higher priority than 1.8, but it is something that should be on the radar as far as a marketing standpoint in the future.
