HOw about adding "load more" option for displaying threads or even posts,
IP boards has implemented it

It's really good idea but in this thread Pirata wrote that new features would not be accepted.

The staff may consider it if there's enough people who want it. I support this feature.

I'd like more AJAX in general.
This too but I'd use it as automatic lazy load.

I think it is better to be an external feature made by a plugin!

I think it would be good, but not in ajax, ajax has problems.

I think on one hand it would be nice, but it would also be awkward. I mean each time that more posts were loaded, we would have to recalculate the number of pages and that's a whole different mess.

I think it's a nice feature, but I don't really see it being right for Mybb, at least not the way it currently works.
