I’m looking for suggestions for a free host to test MyBB 1.8 . The host must allow a test forum to send activation emails. If you have first hand experience using MyBB on a free host then please make suggestion.

I would have asked this in another area but I was so strongly recommended to install a test forum on a free host that I feel this is a MyBB 1.8 support question. I also think that if this thread gets good suggestions it should be a sticky. Other people wanting to test MyBB need this information too.

EDIT: I want a free host that will not require me to have a domain name.
I used https://www.x10hosting.com/ for a while.

Will I need a domain name? See edit on OP. Thanks

EDIT: I searched DuckDuckGo.com for x10.mx and found many results so maybe that means they can supply a domain name if I don't want to use my own.
We're offering 30 days free so you can try out MyBB. Check it out here.

Thanks, but a trial period is not what I call free hosting.

I need a free host where I can keep my test forum running for the foreseeable future without cost.

Gotcha well, do you also have another forum which is live? If so, might be an idea to see if your provider offers hosting multiple domains under a single account.

As I said in my OP, a free host is what I’m looking for.
I resurrected an account I created in 2011 at www.000webhost.com and installed MyBB1.8.4 there. They have a custom (a.k.a. non-standard) cPanel and a primitive file manager but everything works. Be sure to log in every 14 days or they may delete your files. Here’s the FAQ
I too recommend 000webhost, I am using it for long time for testing purposes. x10 is not available to some countries.
