Yes, you are - however in MyBB 1.4 you can set if you'd like your birthday displayed in your profile or not.

Ahh, so this was the reason you let me integrate that into 1.4

In 1.4 you can hide your age and/or date of birth on the public sections of the forum. Administrators (and possibly moderators with the ModCP) will still be able to see your date of birth. For an example, see my DOB Plus plugin, the 1.4 feature works in exactly the same way as that plugin does.

Glad that this feature is added as there's a forum which I work on with many users complain about having there DOB and age showing. Hopefully this should solve the problem

COPPA support has now been integrated in to MyBB 1.4.

Yes well when 1.4 comes out well by the sounds on it, it will be like 100,000 times better then all the paid forum software.
