The core should have an option which would allow administrators to create a page for donations where it would appear:

1) The amount donated so far;
2) The donations goals;
3) The progress;
4) A paypal button or regular button for payments which would enable users to donate;

That said I think it would be best if you included an invoice system, and a shop system in the mybb core as the majority of online communities use a shopping system. With this system, users would be able to choose wether they wanted to pay using paypal, credit card or any other method to donate.

What? The majority of online communities aren't selling anything. MyBB is forum software, and only forum software. No chance of a shop system being implemented.
