Possibly that there is already a user by the name of Heart? That's the reason why the username is in red. 
That email address does not match the username 'Heart'. 

That's my only guess at this moment.

nope no other acc with heart or that email. only have 4 users as i am building forum right now but that is what hes getting

Well, something is causing that username box to turn 'red', thus making that invalid which makes the email invalid as well. 

If you can figure out what might be causing the username box to turn red, then you would be able to solve the email issue as well. 

That's kind of what I am looking at now.
Can't reproduce with default theme.
If the same username / email not already registered then it might be a theme issue.

so looks like any username added = red text box too hmmmm
Pretty new forum , less than 5 members...

so just reinstall, and test before adding any theme or plug-ins

worked hard on it past 3-5 days man.. maybe theres nother option

edit: replaced general.js and global.php and member.php still same error

FIXED! replace general.js Smile cache took a while
I am also having this exact same issue. Tried it both in Firefox & Safari. 2 users in database; none of the records match. Doesn't matter what username or e-mail I enter, the boxes come up red & the e-mail saying it is invalid.
