what do you mean exactly because i use mybb for a short time and i don't know much yet
By homepage what do you mean? If it is index then the number of registered members are already displayed under statistics.
If it is a custom homepage then if the page is extended from MyBB through a plugin (like Page Manager) then its not hard to fetch the number in it.
