i tried to upload even a small avatar 17 kb and 40x40
The file upload failed. Please choose a valid file and try again.
it always gives me

but my avatar setting are
The maximum dimensions for avatars are: 300x300 pixels.
The maximum file size for avatars is 1000 KB.
any help?

What is the file extention for the avatar? Gif, jpg, bmp, etc? Is your avatars directory CHMODDED to 777?

I wonder if the image you are trying to upload is corrupted. If you open the image in an image editor program and save it again will MyBB let you upload it?
