Has anyone managed this successfully yet?

As I said in your other thread on this, yes. In fact I just copied my forum to my local host, and then to my Byethost account, and it works fine. All I have to change it the board URL, cookie settings, and database information and it's good to go.

Good for you. I have managed to move 1.2 forums successfully. But not 1.4
Anyone else?

Yeah, it's real easy. In fact, I started with a MyBB 1.2 forum on one server and ended up with the same forum running MyBB 1.4 on a new server, doing an upgrade and a move at the same time.
