Greetings,

Out of nowhere, the newer members can't view the posts in topics. Guests can't view them either. Mods, Admins and regulars can view topic posts as normal.

I haven't changed anything in the forum permissions in ages. I did change 'member.php' because apparantly it gave a bug related to getting a new password (showed image verification code error while there was no image shown). Although, changing it back did not solve anything.

The only other thing I tried to change was giving the signature string in Postbit Template a <div class='x'>, but I changed it back as it didn't work.

I've got no idea why this is happening. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance,
-MV
Look at the administrator log, and look at the last actions that have been performed. Also, what plugins do you have? Do disabling (or defining NO_PLUGINS in init.php) cause it to work?
FYI, this is posted in 3 threads, extremely hard to keep track of, try and keep it to one thread.
It's certainly something I did today. That's because the members who can't view the topics have posted yesterday.

I added multiple smilies today. Then I added updated ones to the ones who looked grainy. I also made a post icon, and uploaded that. But I have removed that already.

Furthermore, yesterday I made a new skin (css). But I removed that already.

Other than that, I changed some colours and font styles in the main skin.

I did the postbit thing I already mentioned, but changed it back in 5 minutes. I also did something to the Board Settings, although I can't remember what (probably the e-mail settings).

Please can anyone help?

Cheers,
-MV
As I said in reply to one of the other places you posted this, printscreen of exactly what they see??

First image shows the problem.
Second image shows the normal page on my own account.

Some things I know:
  • Can't be plugins - deactived all and nothing happened
  • It only happens the newest 20 or so members
  • Some members have posted before the problem occurred (yesterday they posted)

Does this happen with the MyBB default skin?

In init.php, find where TIME_NOW is defined, and add afterwards:

define("NO_PLUGINS", 1);

Try that when using the default skin.
No, it doesn't work Sad
Upload the member.php file that comes with the 1.4.4 package - if you don't have the original, you can download it again from the "Downloads" page.
Yes I will do that, but that member.php file probably contains a bug. If you change your password you can't log in anymore, as it will give me this bug discussed here.

Ah well, better that bug than members not able to view the posts...

edit: doesn't fix it either.

Can it be something related to deleting some kind of font size related thing in the global.css? I did that a few days ago (namely trow1 and trow2).

Sometime ago I forced every user to view the forum topics the classicaly way. But this did not happen to all members and guests. Now it does. Could this be acting up again?
Sorry for double post but you can now officially call me a dumbfuck.

I must read posts better:

Tutorial forcing users in classic thread mode

Quote:Now, all your users will have your desired postbit style and will be unable to change it Smile Also make sure that 'ACP > Configuration > Show Thread Options > Post Layout' is what you want to force, as this is what will be used by guests and new users.
