Thats only because of the exchange rate. It would cost you about the same to get something from the United States, if not more.
Yeah... not only will you get charged extra for exchange currencies, some sort of tariff may be charged for import/export.
But the exchange rates are about 1 USD = 1.5 NZD = 1.4 AUD.
