I installed v. 1.6 beta. But I have the following problems:

a) When I go to

for copy the last updates, I messed the whole installation. F.ex. the file index.php is listed to have 9.2 kb (similar like in 1.6 beta), but when I overcopy the link into the forum folder, everything is messed, not more shown the forum but just that trunk index page.

Are there anywhere the develop files on an ftp server, so that, with konqueror, one just can copy the whole /trunk folder with everything inside in one's own computer ???? Why you dont make after every committ a .tar.gz file of the whole state, like other projects do, so that people can download any timethe most actual version ?

b) After installing everything again, occured the following problem:

/ Where is a link in the forum main page, to go to the portal ?

/ Where in the admin center, I can activate and edit the top menu bar (i.e. that what's in this forum is: home , about , features , downloads ...) ??

c) By german law, one need to have at the bottom an 'impressum', that means a link when clicking it gives the responsavel person for theforum, his adress, and e-mail. Such an item should exist in the bottom link bar, i.e. in this forum between: ContcatUs , MyBB , ReturnToTop ...

These things should be improved urgently

I only want to copy the snapshot of /trunk (what I suppose be the snapshot of 1.6)

Why you dont use git , or make a .tar.gz of everything for download after each comit -- like doing other serious projects like mesa, linux, etc etc ??

I hope you have a solution for that, otherwhise I nor start to use that just installed board but something else like phpBB or drupal



PS: How I can in the admin center, switch on the header link bar (home , about , features , download ... in this forum) and edit the link items ??? And how I can get in a button to click to switch to the portal or blog ??

There is a problem with your svn setup. Why don't you use the beta?

Several bugs have been fixed since that beta, but it's alright if you just want to test it. Don't use it for a live forum, wait for the final version or use 1.4

You can add a link to the portal in there.


c) If this is only effected by german law, then it is up to german webmasters to add that link into the footer template. Does the contact us link not suffice? If not, you can simply PM/email the admin user.

OK Last night I already changed to drupal with my new site:

but this weekend I'll look the two possibilities nearer and then decide what forum I'll use.

Which software will you use?

I've used vbulletin, phpbb, ipb, smf and mybb.

I prefer mybb

I tried already several forum progs. Beside of that new forum mentioned above, I have another with phpBB , and one quacksilber forum running.

The qs forum is ... too poor, also there are problems with the pictures, it's not transparent how and where they are stocked and often they arent showed. It's a simple forum program. phorum I had running but I changed it then to the qs mentioned.

phpBB3, until now I dont get working a blog or chat.Also, one has to repair many by hand, make an update when modules are installed, is a disaster. Also, a certain inflexibility. I dont want more one phpBB3 forum.

With myBB I have the problems mentioned in this post. I think nowadays any forum should have included a fotoblog and a chat function. All ths social network and easy-to-ues ready blog programs (comercial, or to be used at one site, but not for install on your own server) such like netlog have this.

drupal i installed last night. I use it now, to see how it's easy or not to use and to administrate. Things are changing, some projects remains behind, other arise, so that the user has to look every day whats new, and the programmers have to keep actualized. As I said, meanwhile standard is an easy-to-use fotoblog and chat function.

use myBB 1.4 instead unless you are prepared to take risks
