He PMed me his phpMyAdmin logins so I could check it out. He installed IPB in the same database using the same table prefix as mybb. Some tables have the same name in both applications and IPB overwrites the existing tables during the installation. I suggested him to contact his host and ask if they have backups for his account. If not, he will have to start over. Some information, like usergroups and users, can be restored though.
