So I've many plugins and many custom edits running on 1.6.3 boards. Would it be safe if I prefer not to upgrade to 1.6.4 now?
What are chances or how some plugins or templates might stop functioning? Can anyone explain?

The longer you delay the upgrade, the more changes will pile up with the releases following 1.6.4, and the harder the upgrade process is going to be. For security reasons alone you should always stick to the very latest version.
I have lots of custom edits myself, which is why I made the Patches plugin to manage them.
All of my plugins are still working after upgrading to v 1.6.4
Only small edits/patches in the templates after the upgrade.

Yes. It's always best to go with the latest version.
Btw Malcom did you upgraded? Still confused, have plugins like MyTabs and some others.
I upgraded about a week ago using the SVN. Everything went smoothly.
Plugins will still work.
SVN? Upgrade was released today no?
Do you know preferably what files do I need to upload from 1.6.4 ? I read but didn't exactly know well.
Also the fact that I did a lot of modifications in default files.
