[For 1.6] Report Spammer

Plugin link: http://mods.mybb.com/view/report-spammer

This plugin detects and reports spammers using web sites and services like StopForumSpam.com and WhatIsMyIPAddress.com.

The plugin is aimed at moderators who suspect a user may be spamming. The plugin will add a panel to the "Edit this user in Mod CP" page, with information from StopForumSpam.com on the user's username, e-mail, and IP addresses used. It will also do a reverse IP lookup and get the user's hostname, ISP and organization from WhatIsMyIPAddress.com. Since many spammers use server farms for bot accounts, ISPs that have "server" in their name (e.g. ubiquityservers.com) will be flagged. Based on this information, plus other information from the user's profile and posts (if any), a moderator can make a decision as to whether the user is a spammer or not.

Installation instructions can be found in the readme.txt file.

Please submit issues at the plugin's page on GitHub:

So this only gives the ability for moderators to report spammers to a anti-spam organizations like SFS?

Nice, but it causes problems with some server configs.

curl_setopt_array() is not supported in safe_mode, and a few other settings.

You should set the options individually. via curl_setopt()

This is definitely a great idea!
All my plugins are available for free at MyBB Extend and on my GitHub. MyBB-Plugins.com has been closed and none of my plugins are officially maintained or supported.

It also helps with detecting spammers (see the first screenshot), by getting their hostname(s). Many bots use server farms (like "ubiquityservers.com"), and most often, these have "server" in their name. This is a general framework for identifying spammers before they post. In the future, the plugin could check e-mail or DNS blacklists or other resources.

Pirata Nervo: thanks!

pavemen, thanks. I've uploaded a fix on Mod CP, which seems to have rendered my plugin page an "Invalid Download". I guess this issue is well-known by the MyBB team?

In the meantime, the updated plugin can be downloaded from GitHub: https://raw.github.com/dandv/Report-Spam...pammer.php (no uninstall necessary, just overwrite the PHP file).

thanks for the fix. the mods site requires staff approval before be put into public, so every time you resubmit, the existing download gets pulled from public view until approval. normal process

It would be much better if the old download remained available until the new one gets approved.

Yeah, you should also have some sort of safe check. I made a similar plugin but I found many hosts were banned from SFP because someone on the server or in the past was abusing the API (a lot of script do, forums plugins & WordPress plugins). So the owner bans automatically API abusers (if you send Google's spider IP you'll get banned for instance, and everyone one else on the server if you use shared hosting).
Well just to say I found out many people could use such a plugin, and it's a real shame...
