you misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm not saying the series 2.3 of plugin works in MyBB 1.8 or not.
I'm saying the 2.3 series is buggy.
And not make any sense use 2.3 series... If any new feature of 2.3 feature doesn´t work in 1.8.
2.25 is more stable, more light and it works better, including the parser.

It would be great if a coder would take over this plugin. @alert mentions are ESSENTIAL for modern forums.

Hello,

I am using mybb 1.8 for my forum. i have install myalert by changing capability from 16 to 18 and it working fine. but when i install mention it shows a error " This plugin is incompatible with MyBB 1.8.3 " and in mention me script there is no option to change capability from 16 to 18.

mention work fine in mybb 1.8...
you need edit mention_install.php file

Yes, it works... I use modified autocomplete js file from Shade... unfortunately there is a problem in console

Im running 2.3.3 on 1.8, it seems to tag users but alerts don't show that someone has tagged you for some reason?

Also the alerts box goes totally black sometimes.
