Yes, definitely. The 1.8 release is a lot different from 1.6. You can follow the upgrading instructions at this link here. Smile

MyBB 1.8 has made a large number of database schema changes that will make it incompatible with an un-upgraded MyBB 1.6.x database. It's pretty much mandatory to run the upgrade script if you want to convert to 1.8.

Okay, thanks. I just couldn't find where it said whether or not we needed to use it when I read the blog post.
