No local avatar gallery available

In my MyBB 1.8 forum there's no option to choose an avatar from a local avatar gallery like it was in 1.6.
Is this option not longer available in 1.8 or is there something wrong? The file 'Avatar' in 'Images' is copied from 1.6 to 1.8....... Somebody know what te problem is?
