[UA-PLUGINS] Messages - Desktop notifications
#31
The size will not change, it's builtin browser notification.
Max size is 128x128px I suppose. The bell is 88px in width so yours replace dont have any effect.
English is not my native language, so, sorry for any mistakes which I will do for sure.

We will not change this since it's possible you don't open your forum because you don't want to receive notifications. Anyway, the notifications come trough Google Chrome / Firefox / .. so I think it's not possible to receive notifications when your browser is closed.

I was going to stop development of my plugin, but mine works even if Chrome is closed.

Your plugin uses GCM push notifications (like Apple ones), its only Google feature. This plugin use Notifications API: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs...ations_API
I don't know exactly about working notifications in Google Chrome with enabled "Run in background" feature.

Mine uses the same API which is the same for all browsers as it is a W3C standard. However, to my knowledge, you need something like GCM to send/receive notifications in the background and when the browser is closed.

For instance, with my plugin, my computer or phone can be off, and as soon as I turn it on, I'll receive the notification.

To me, and this is just my opinion, it's almost useless to receive a notification while I'm currently browsing the page so I am disappointed that I can't stop development of my own plugin and use this instead.

Don't stop development only because of this. They both are cool.

Yes they are both both cool ... but yeah, I can't stop development as my forum's users already depend on my plugin.

If the forum isn't in an open window it usually means the user doesn't want to receive a notification or anything else like that from the forum. Example: you are making a project in Atom and your forum is open (so it means you would like to receive messages and other), you will receive one. If it isn't open you won't receive one so you don't want to be disturbed by messages of the forum. I think that's pretty obvious? Anyway, in the next update you can choose by yourself what kind of notifications you would like to receive

Please stay on topic, you can talk about another plugin in another topic. Thanks in advance

Good point, I have never explained where you can change it XD

Go to:
/images/ua-plugins/ and replace the bell with something else. Upload it and the bell has changed! [Image: smile.gif]

I'd beg to differ.

Just because I'm not currently holding my phone or my phone is off doesn't mean I don't want to receive text messages or voicemails. Just because I'm not sitting in front of a computer or my computer is off doesn't mean I don't want to receive any email.

When I return to my phone or computer, I should see a list of all the notifications I missed.

When I am busy with other things on my phone or computer, I should be able to receive calls, texts, voicemails, emails, notifications, etc., and determine if they are important enough to leave my current task, or ignore them until sometime later.

... this is how notifications work and why they exist.

I hope you'll reconsider because I really like your implementation.

indeed I think it can be a good idea from the time or there is an option to enable, disable.

but if she does not leave the choice and obliges the user to receive notifications with the browser closed

I think it is a bad idea... this is just my opinion Smile

hello I share with you I found a bug with your plugin and this MyCode http://community.mybb.com/thread-132091-...#pid992498

when UA Message disabled, this MyCode works very well

when UA Message enabled, this MyCode does not work at all...

it's really sad, I hope you find it a solution to this problem
