I wish the solution was posted here.  My default theme is centered (and other problems with it) but my other themes are in good shape.
Care to post the fix?

How does the default MyBB theme look?

Does it look OK to you?

If YES, then the other theme you are using is not done correctly.

The default theme looks really hacked.  
(The blocked out areas are mine on the graphic)
Any ideas how to fix this?

No, no, that's NOT the default MyBB theme that came with the original installation of MyBB.

I'm talking about the default theme that looks very close to this theme that MyBB.com uses. Not the one you use.

upgrading theme from version 1.6.x to version 1.8.x is a tedious process.
possible fixes are already given in this thread - basically it'd be better to
install & use a fully compatible theme
