2 IPs on 1 VPS is no better than 1 IP on 1 VPS for dns. You should have 2 VPSs, each in a different datacenter for DNS, but 1 will work unless your VPS is down.
Hmmm.
I was looking at my server usage and such... And Kloxo is using 234mb of RAM... Is there a better option for performance? Specifically apache's httpd and mysqld are using the most RAM. I just want to get the best performance I can out of it...

Thanks,
-Mini
My nginx+php-fpm+mysql install scripts:
http://freevps.us/thread-1434.html (CentOS 6)
http://freevps.us/thread-528.html (CentOS 5)
Add APC and you'll have a high performance low memory setup if you have a quality VPS.

Both will use 150mb max on openvz and less than 128mb on Xen/KVM/VMWare or a dedicated server with APC added running a MyBB forum.

Sounds a lot better. With this setup, how do I handle the DNS? I mean, how do I add my domain to it? I really am having a hard time understanding the whole DNS deal Wink Kloxo sort of simplified it for me...
Which do you personally recommend? CentOS 5 or CentOS 6? I've got the choice of 5.6, 5.7, or 6...
I'm sorry I'm such a newb. Wink Just trying to learn!
I use CentOS 6 on all newly set up servers if it's an option. For DNS, use a service like dns.he.net or zoneedit.com if you don't have multiple VPSs in multiple locations.
After installing the nginx+php-fpm+mysql, then what? I need an FTP server right? And I need to install APC still...

Edit: Nevermind, SFTP Smile

I've got the DNS setup (just hasn't updated on my ISP yet).
MyBB seems to be installed and working(sort-of, it will when the domain works for me...)

Pretty much good to go, I believe... And I'm only using 105mb RAM right now. Much better than 234mb...

Thank you to all who have helped!
I enjoy learning new things, especially when related to servers.

You can do it it just means there is no backup dns server so if there is a problem well there is a big problem Toungue.

Personally I always just found DNS to be a PITA and used services like cloudns since it's just easier both in the short and long run (IMO).

@Mini': Glad you got it all working. Personally I found setting everything up by hand easier that Kloxo (for others who wonder). Remember to keep everything updated probably pick up a book or two on to lock everything down Wink.

For other noobs getting started I recommend http://www.howtoforge.com/ as a good starting line. Although you have to make some adjustments since most of their tutorials assume your installing the distro and not using one provided by the host (which can make a difference).
As far as CentOS is concerned, its perfectly fine and most used OS in web servers these days. Also, its friendly and less confusing for the beginners.
As somewhat pointed out, I would recommend not running a DNS server for a newbie. Most registrars allow you to point your domain to your IP (ie, it goes through their DNS server).

I went this route. Should work. I just added the A records or whatever to go to my IP and am using NameCheap's nameservers I believe. My stupid ISP doesn't update DNS very frequently, so I'm playing the waiting game right now...
