We will bring this thing to life yet! For those who don't know what IRC is it's basically a chat room. Below I've provided the information on MyBB's channel, (unofficial) IRC software recommendations, and quick guide to registering and logging into your username on freenode.

Server: irc.freenode.net
Port: 6667 (will be default in most clients)
Channel: #mybb (hashtag is part of channel names on IRC)

Webchat: http://www.mybb.com/get-involved/irc-channel/

(Unofficial) IRC Client Recommendations
Windows (free): HexChat
Windows (paid): mIRC
Windows (8 app/paid): IRC Explorer

Mac (free): Lime Chat
Mac (free): Colloquy

Linux (free): HexChat

Firefox (yes the browser): ChatZilla

Joining a channel:
Quote:/join <channelname>
Replace <channelname> with the name of the channel.  Also remember # signs are part of channel names so for mybb it would be "/join #mybb".

Search MyBB Docs:
Quote:!docs [# results] <search term>
Searches MyBB docs for search term, and returns top result (by default) or up to a maximum of 5 if specified.

Search Google:
Quote:!google [# results] <search term>
Searches Google for search term, and returns top result (by default) or up to a maximum of 5 if specified.

MyBB User Profile:
Quote:!user <username>
Replace <username> with their community.mybb.com username and it will provide a link to their profile.

Google Battle:
Quote:!battle <term1> vs. <term2>
Runs a Google battle with number of results between term1 and term2.

MyBB GitHub:
Quote:!github <repository> <pull|issue> <id>
Searches the MyBB organization for a repository, pull request or issue.

MyBB Facebook:
Quote:!facebook
Provides a link to the official MyBB Facebook page.

MyBB Twitter:
Quote:!twitter
Links to the official MyBB Twitter account.

MyBB Google+:
Quote:!google+
Provides a link to the official MyBB Google+ account.

All commands are handled by the resident bot, "MyBBot" (a bot made by DennisTT).  If you would like to get a list of them just PM MyBBot "help" (without quotes).

In addition, advanced users may wish to register an account on the freenode network.

Registering:

Quote:/msg NickServ register <password> <email>
Replace <password> with your password and <email> with your email.  Also make sure NickServ is spelled correctly so you aren't giving your email/password to random person.

Logging in:
Quote:/msg NickServ identify <password>
Again replace <password> with your password.

Please share suggestions for software/post/irc channel Wink.
Thanks for sharing. I've joined the channel.
Not a problem hopefully we can get it somewhat active like most IRC channels where people can actually ask for a little support or discuss stuff.
Colloquy should work great for mac users. I am using it now flawlessly.

Love the idea. I'll be in there this afternoon sometime. Although I use xchat.
HexChat is based off of xchat.
Will look at it when I get off.
Updated with bot commands. Please don't abuse these they can get spammy quick.
Finally joined Up!
