I have to say that I think this is a brilliant idea because I know I for one would love a way to learn server administration without having for fork out for an expensive VPS.

He's not buying or selling VPSs. He's going to be providing free small ones for people who need to something they usually can't in a shared enviroment. This doesn't necessarily mean a large amount of resources are needed but maybe a php setting or something.

My bad, might got a bit out of topic due to the whole debate about how RAM you actually need Wink.

If you have a 32bit OS running on a 64bit kernel you have to edit your yum repositories because they attempt to grab the x86_64 packages which do not work, but even after overriding the repositories some scripts like cPanel check the kernel for the architecture and will not allow you to install 32bit packages on a 64bit kernel. Of course, cPanel will not run on a 64MB VPS, but other scripts have the same issue.
That's why you don't use a 64 bit kernel for the guest OSes...

I think he isn't doing complete Virtual machines from the sound of it. He's doing containers where the kernel is shared with each VPS.
If so, then scripts may have issues if its passed a 64 bit environment. There should be a way to pass it a 32 bit one.
Unfortunately I don't know a lot about kernels so I will have to hire somebody to help me compile the proper Xen kernels I guess. Sad
If ur doin free vps's @ -100 ram how much for a 1gig 1?
Not an option. I'm offering 128MB @ $3/month and 256MB @ $5/month which is the highest I'll go.
I would say 128mb, but if you are using cPanel, you would need at least 512mb.

128MB is to high and if a user wants cPanel they'll have to buy a VPS. Smile
