um, you do know that having a VPS is having a dedicated server?
Did you read the thread bro? He stated its not for that. Its for people who need more then shared, like functions.

No, dedicated hosting typically refers to being able to control an entire physical computer. A VPS only gives you control over a virtual computer, which runs on a physical machine (usually having a number of virtual machines) which you do not control.
Having a dedicated server means that only your websites are hosted on it. So being physical or virtual doesn't make a difference. A VPS is a dedicated virtual server.

The datacenter/web host administers the VM host machine, unless you have some sort of VPS reseller hosting Toungue

I'll admit that dedicated hosting first brings to mind a physical server, but as stated before, a VPS is a dedicated virtual server.

Who are you talking to?
Umm you? Yumi is right btw, and he even stated these aren't traditional VPS's.
Ya dude a decicated server isn't a VPS. There is a reason every single host in the world lists them separately Wink.
Some people refer to them as a VDS instead of a VPS because the resources allocated are dedicated and not shared. Some VPSs, like OpenVZ, share resources and are not dedicated at all. This topic is about Xen which is a system level container so the resources are completely dedicated (although I chose to not dedicate CPU cycles so the CPU itself is shared, but it is possible to allocate the CPU if you wanted a completely dedicated system) and you have control over the kernel.
