I don't understand what the fuss about using mod_rewrite...that's what the forum archive is for (Lite Mode). ...The search engine can read what the page actually says...

In fact, search engines can also spider the full forum just fine. Here 100.000 pages are indexed in total, 42.000 of them are from archive.

With the archive, I have 2 problems, which indeed are not fatal, anyway:
1. The archive url's are two levels deep, /archive/index.php/, which is not good. I prefer site/thread, not site/archive/index.php/thread.

2. There is duplicity as robots are indexing both regular forum and archive, so one of them shall be better prevented from indexing...

The mod would solve these two things.

As I posted in another thread, for even further SEO/SEF improvement, I would also like the action=newpost links to be either made nofollow, or to be optionally turned off.
How about:

http://www.mysite.com/username.html

Hi,
That is a possibility, although it would have to look something like:
http://www.mysite.com/member-*username*-*uid*.html

In order for the mod to run correctly, the user id (uid) must be somewhere in the URL in this case. Also, what if someone registered with a username like "forum" or "calendar" Toungue? This would corrupt the pages.

I will look into including the actual username into the URL, and get back to you once/if I find a solution.

Thanks for your suggestions, and please keep them coming! Smile

Added:
The mod I will release "MyBB SEO", will be Easy Install and Advanced Plugin Compatible. This is so users do not have to make many file edits.

Cheers!

That would work, as well.

I think including the username helps the user feel like their profile is their own "personal space".

I'm getting pretty damn excited about this mod! LOL
I would say yes especially if it works and brings more traffic to everyone's community.
One thing I forgot as for the advantage of SEO mod. If visitors will link to some of your threads on full site, but you are preventing spiders from main forum and only allowing them to spider archive, you are loosing the backlinks advantage. Of course not in the case you have spidering of both allowed, but that one brings potential duplicity problems and double spider traffic.

I might be happy to help with betatesting, on a live board, so only in case it will not consist of any problems (except usual beta-testing risks).
Not really, in my opinion.

The archive URLs are engine-friendly so as to decrease bandwidth.
That will be really good 4 mybb users. If u will do it,that'z a very good news 4 mybb's seo.God helps u do this.
