By the way I am creating a story board type of application in XThread, something similar to Fmylife.com.

Create first_postbit template, add {$first_post} to the showthread page.
With XThreads plugin there is an option under forum/post settings to show first_postbit on all pages.
"Show first post on every showthread page", check the Yes radio button.
