Mark external links

This is actually a great idea! By the way, you should add "Exempt groups" or something. I wouldn't use this setting but it might have a use for someone else and having a plugin completely customizable is always great Smile

No... this plugin does not pull anything from the external site (also not the thread title) because that would be a killer for the performance.
It just adds an image to external links.

I don't really like the theme of your site, but I really like this plugin, I guess I'll be joining! ;P

Edit: It adds a link to everything, though, is there a way to limit only to the post message?

It does only add the image to links inside post message.
Would be nice to see you arround Smile

But if you just want an image for external links you should use Lennart's plugin. Shadowbox may then a little bit overkill. Big Grin
I have not tested both plugins activated at same time... Maybe we should test the compatibility of it (@Lennart Sauter).

I don't use shadowbox since it does require a backlink and kills the performance in various ways - I'll get rid of it at the sites of me using it soon and replacing it by a simple div, shown by jQuery.

Feel free to test the compatibility, I think it should be given.
Also - this plugin can show a special image for other sites, I don't think shadowbox can do that.

Hmm, maybe because of my bad custom images Big Grin
I always found it very useful in wikipedia to have external links marked - and you can mark them with custom images aswell so the possibilities are endless (premium links with sponsoring banner etc).

Kinda... Just about every link on each post would have an 'image', even the signature.

No, only inside the postbit message. Everything else would indeed be a mess.

Thank you mate. I could add a group setting but what the hell would we need it for? I can't think of any useful reason and then I don't want to make the stuff more complicated as needed.
Would you need such a setting?

Kind regards

Nope I wouldn't but maybe someone else would. Imagine that the admin would want to show annoying images to guests or regular users, the admin could select which groups wouldn't see the image Toungue
Just an idea

Correct your speech mate...

Your ideas are interesting and I'll gladly support you with the modification although I do think it's well, a bit useless Wink
We can discuss this via email as it's not related to the plugin thread here.
