My concern with the DH partnership is resources of CF and how much DH might cause overload to the network.
Not an issue at all re: resources. We wouldn't have launched without enough resources & we're constantly making enhancements to the network (tons of new datacenters planned this year as well).

This is going to be kind of long, but...

That is an example of what one of my images' URLs had become. Fortunately, a while after disabling CloudFlare it returned to normal. However, since you claim it is unlikely to be a result of CloudFlare, I'll investigate the plugins I'm using, although I can't think of what could cause it. And as far as I know, I'm not using any caching services but I'll take a look at my panels.

Very strange. We don't do anything that would re-write URLs for sure. The only thing that I can think of is a plugin that works off of JS, which might be an issue with Rocket Loader & that could be busting something (try turning that off in your settings).
So:
Am I right in deducing that the consensus is CloudFlare benefits MyBB under these conditions:
  1. if you have a shared or slow server
  2. You must disable JS minifying
  3. In it's default form, it messes up user IPs and you have to install a plugin or hack MyBB to get around it
  4. Anything else I'm missing?
Personally, I want to lessen the load on my dedicated server. We're past the point where we would have been allowed to stay on most shared servers. Would CloudFlare lessen the server load?

When I run YSlow, I get pretty good scores and have already minified some JS and all CSS. I have done a lot of things to speed us up. Trying to see if I would see a benefit with CloudFlare.

Occasionally we get a "too many concurrent MySQL queries" problem. Would CloudFlare help this?

When a user makes a post, is there some big delay before other people see their post because of server caching?

We only care about US traffic, and don't really have traffic from overseas. Would CloudFlare really help in this case?

Yes, we generally help cut requests by about 50-60%.

(Caching would still be of benefit for your static resources).

We should.

No, we don't impact dynamic updates.

Yes, because we have multiple datacenters around the USA (more on the way).
You don't need to disable JS minifying. I minify everything, and it works.

  1. No, you can use it on dedicated servers too. It's work just the same if not better.
  2. CloudFlare's way of minifying JS seems to mess up Prototype but I'm assuming it works fine with jQuery so with 1.8 that shouldn't be much of an issue.
  3. Not at all. Although I've stopped development of my CF plugin for the time being, all it does is changes the setting "Scrutinize User's IP address" to Yes. Admin CP > Configuration > Server and Optimization Options > Scrutinize User's IP address? > Yes
I use JS Mininify setting on my MyBB forums just fine with no problem.

Quote:In it's default form, it messes up user IPs and you have to install a plugin or hack MyBB to get around it

No. MyBB has a setting in admincp now to Scrutinize IPs which fix it all.

I'm using CF on the largest MyBB forum and a few small ones.

It should. CF has enough settings and options that you can experiment to fix your needs.

Depends on why that's happening. It certainly won't make it worse. And it potentially can help prevent it.

Quote:When a user makes a post, is there some big delay before other people see their post because of server caching?

I've never once had that complaint or noticed such behavior. However images and css might get cached and if you do frequent design changes you may need to purge cache or enable development mode. In any case it's not a problem if you understand how CF works.

With a couple lines in htaccess you can easily block all traffic EXCEPT USA. Very easy and handy imho.

Could be an effect of those that double minify. I've had no problems on any of my sites with Prototype. I allow CF to minify my scripts.

That's generally the issue. I don't recommend having two options for minification turned on.
