If owners want to allow smoking in their establishments, I think they should be able to apply for an exemption. All establishments which allow smoking should be made to post a sign in the window and mention that fact in any advertisements - non-smokers don't want to unknowingly walk into a room of second-hand smoke.

While killing you at the same time. My point remains the cons far outweigh the small number of pros it does have.

Those are a lucky few. Mind you they've probably had some sort of help from doctors or whoever

It doesn't have ANY pros. Smoking doesn't help you relax. The only reason why it "relaxes" some people is because they are already addicted to the Nicotine and they are relieving themselves of their withdrawal symptoms (which wouldn't be happening to them if they hadn't taken up smoking to begin with!).

@ Ryan Ashbrook:

I think I speak for everyone when I say that we respect YOU as a person, whether you smoke or not. Its YOUR INVOLVEMENT in smoking that we don't have respect for (because of the countless reasons why its bad for you, among other things).
REAL NICE. My posts gets removed YET the other inflamatory reply that i replied to stays up.

Whoever removed my post needs to go back and read what i replied to and the jab's/attack that was taken at me about my grammer etc.

Nice show of favoritisim.

Ok, let's say the law allows that. You will still find that the majority of restaurants will choose to be non smoking.

The main reason?

Restaurants are out to make as much money as possible. Targeting a minority (which smokers are) is not the best way to make money.

Also, you will find that more chefs are non-smokers because of their job, and so even getting employees will be hard for smoking restaurants!

People with addictions shouldn't be catered for. It's their fault they are addicted and their responsibility to stop. Why should we non smokers have to suffer when all the blame lies with the smokers?

Your post got removed because you swore 2 times and called him an idiot. If you can't at least have a mature discussion, then your not going to have the privilege of posting

Dude i have been in the business for 20+ yrs. You couldnt be MORE WRONG. As mentioned in another reply i know a number of places that had to shut down due to the no smoking. And in fact DE was considering making a amendment to it because they LOST a ton of revenue from the slot casinos there when that law was enacted which banned smoking in all those places. And the ONLY reason it was even passed was because a few slimeball's decided to fib about a test that was conducted BEFORE they went and added this bs law. Basically a couple of restaurants across the state volunteered to go with No smoking but a few ( One of which i knew the owner and business ) decided to lie and say that it didnt hurt thier business. They basically lost thier WHOLE happy hr crowd and over half thier business. I laugh now because they are out of business thanks to the bs law. Unfortunatly a few others are out as well that were run and owned by some very decent friends of mine.

Let me know if someone swears and calls you an idiot. Same rules apply to everyone
Do you have a source for that "fib" claim because to me it looks like you made it up on the spot.

As for your other points, I'm afraid that you are the one who is wrong. There are an estimated 100 million smokers in the US. That's roughly 1/3 of the population.

Out of these smokers, we could estimate that about half smoke 20 or more a day. That's around 50 million.

They are the only people who are going to be affected by the smoking ban. The others will be able to hold off their addiction for a longer period of time and therefore go to eat at restaurants!

Losing 1/6 of your customers does not make you go out of business, and I would presume that most of the 20+ a day smokers would simply go outside when they needed a smoke.
