Information Editing post window size
Posted by: Mordicus - 2010-08-19, 09:34 AM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - Replies (2)

Is there a way to change the width of the window when editing a post? It is a small square in the middle of the page and I would like to increase the width of the editing window/frame, for convenience. Thank you!

I have done searches here but I have yet to locate the one that I understand or one that works. When I go to it it is just blank. I looked for more index php. They are everywhere it seems. But there is only one in
public_html/forum/admin/. this is a large one.
There is one
public_html/forum/admin/styles/
This i tiny
public_html/forum/admin/styles/default/
this is tiny.they only say:
<html> <head> <title></title> </head> <body> &nbsp; </body> </html>
Could this be my problem or am I looking in the wrong direction?

  Image Resizing
Posted by: Trevor N - 2010-08-19, 09:14 AM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - Replies (2)

Hello, I was wondering how I can make it so if someone posts a image that is really big, it will be resized down to a decent size like 600 x 600.

When someone posts a wallpaper on my forum, it goes off the side of the forum and makes it look really bad.

I searched mybb.com but couldn't find any solutions for 1.6.

  robots.txt
Posted by: Diminished - 2010-08-19, 06:45 AM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - Replies (1)

Hello,

I was wondering is it a good thing to use "robots.txt" on my forum, I see a lot of bots, Yahoo, Google, etc browsing the donation page, registering, etc, I don't have a huge problem with that, but it gets indexed and will turn up somewhere on a search engine.

1: Is "robots.txt" correct, or should it be "robots.php" or something else.

2: http://thediscussionzone.com/robots.txt - Is that how it should be? I found this on a guide somewhere and just wanted to get a confirmination that it's correct.

Thank you.

Is it possible - mysql injestion on mybb, how to hack a mybb forum?
Posted by: james12 - 2010-08-19, 06:43 AM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - Replies (5)

Hello,

I have 3 questions

1. How to mysql injest a mybb forum.

2. Cross site scripting, any specific files are needed to change for that to happen so it can be called a cross site scripting.

3. What are the ways to hack a mybb forum.

Please list the possibilities that you think can arise according to you and how to prevent them?

I see that www.forums.digitalpoint.com is never hacked, how is that possible when we all have to be online with the fear of getting hacked.

Do they take steroids or its just that they can spend a lot on these security things and "us" being new and without the ability to invest so much have to be online with the fear.

Probably the security people don't want to tell all the things for free to us or else how they will arrange their food. But for the sake of it, as this is a society of people who help each other, tell us all what to do to prevent hacking upto the standards at www.forums.digitalpoint.com

I don't want to hear it is not possible to not get hacked, anybody can get hacked - And i want to say to them why not google get hacked or digg or twitter, why only new sites of people for whom just being online is like a dream get hacked.

Please post the possibilities to hack a mybb forum and how to make mybb more secure.

All suggestions and ideas are welcome Lightbulb

  subscription questions
Posted by: andrewjs18 - 2010-08-19, 02:16 AM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - Replies (4)

2 part question......

1- how can I expand the amount of words the subscription email sends out?

for example..if it sends out 50 words, how can I change it to show 500 words in the email?

2- subscribing to a thread seems to be inconsistent in email alerts of new posts

for example....I subscribed to a thread on a forum I manage and got 1 email about a new reply and nothing since then even though there's been 4 posts after the initial email I got.

I was wondering if there was a way to make it so when a mod does something it will show me what post/thread was effected? Like if i delete a post i want it to say
Blake-(the date)-Deleted post(or thread)-(now here i want it so say the context of the post here or the name of the thread) instead of
