I use Notepad++ for general editing and for projects that are single files, like plugins. I use Eclipse for full-on projects that have multiple files and are more complex, like a website or app. Eclipse is not great for quick editing, but Notepad++ is. Notepad++ is horrible for large projects though. It's not designed to do so. I tried doing a large project in Notepad++ only once, and I couldn't keep anything organized.

I use phpDesigner & EditPlus & Notepad++. I am on windows.
I tried pspad & intype & notepad ++ and downloading Eclipse
My choice is Notepad++ for now

Notepad is all you need.... but you can also try Adobe Dreamweaver, TPB helps you with that.
