He has a ping of 241ms..which confuses me.
Why does it confuse you? Ping has nothing to do with speeds. It's just how long a round trip takes but during that round trip your throughput (amount of data your transferring) could be huge.
The key part of my post was: "why I hate the internet at my grandparents...."
