I'm working with 5.6 for now and haven't encountered any issues so far.

Now, the big thing is to wait for plugin authors to update their stuff, especially Omar and Pirata.

AFAIK both did that already At least Pirata has uploaded some of his plugins already.

Yeah. He did. He said earlier that he'd be updating newpoints, which I hope he does soon.

There you go Mybb 1.8 , I think this thread is useless now.

I am still using php 5.3.29 and it works fine!
I hope my hosting server will soon be updated officially to 5.5.15 or 5.4.32 (at least)!
