I am not sure if I am liking the background on the homepage, a bit overwhelming for the gray.

Thanks, I'm currently looking forward to change it according to the home page since I've finished a new theme for the home page yesterday.

Some comments on how to improve the home page theme would be nice

I truly don't have any comments on the homepage. You have done a fa nominal job with the homepage.

Some calmer, try a light background, maybe light/silver gray with a bit of gradient?
