Beta release? Have I missed something?

I know, first I've heard too.

Would love to get my hands on it so I can start planning ahead

The beta will be released to beta-testers approximately 2-3 weeks into the beta-testing period, but I don't think there is a plan to release this to the public (AFAIK) as the final release should be after that

I think there's enough people invited to BetaConnection to get most of the bugs out of it before Final anyway. So I public beta isn't really neccesary.
