We did say that it was experimental That may well have been caused by a recent commit. Check the headerinclude template and make sure {$stylesheets} is there.

It is Euan. But why release it if it can't even pull the stylesheets...? That's kind of important.

There's a big difference between "experimental" and "you shouldn't use this, ever." If basic functions are not working then there should be some advice that it's not worth downloading at this point.

Because it isn't released? Did you read the blog post? We've opened up the github repository - nothing more. The code should only be used by those who know what they are doing and never in a live environment.
This issue obviously isn't always happening either. Nathan has a working copy live on mybbsecurity and I have several locally for development (as do the rest of the team). Have you tried installing the code locally and seeing if it works? Maybe try re-cloning it from github? You should expect issues like this in alpha quality software.

True. If it didn't work at all, we obviously wouldn't have opened the code up. But it does work for the most part - as can be seen by the countless other test installs running smoothly such as http://www.mybbsecurity.net/18/index.php
And there is advice - on the blog. The 1.8 alpha is primarily aimed at those who wish to help develop the software and have the skills/ability to do so.

Proper compression of the images folder. Approximately 60,000 bytes saved. Not much, but every byte counts these days.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that no css files get cached whatseoever.

If anyone needs the solution..open the stylesheets and resave em.
Here's a working demo on 8GB of ram. Go crazy.

It's very snappy by default but I've done my own compressions and such so don't expect the same performance.

I like the new look. Much more modern. I am sure it has been asked somewhere but is this going to be the default theme with 1.8?
