I agree with you 100% for 1.8 but I must say I've seen a couple of nice looking themes however Justin needs to step up his game.

We don't expect anyone to use the default theme. It's a modern base for developers to use. How many forums do you see using the default theme?

It's the other way around. Plugin authors are supposed to make their plugins compatible with themes. It isn't always possible though.

However, to like or not to like the Apart Theme series is not the problem. The problem is that what is delivered in standard package (and Apart are in default themes) should work.

On another side, I don't see why a theme (expanding variable in a layout) can be a blocking point for a plugin (acting on the code, the engine) to work... But I'm not a Web developer, my daily environment is C and C++ for desktop applications ; surely different (don't know).

It's the other way around. Plugin authors are supposed to make their plugins compatible with themes. It isn't always possible though.

LOL on SMF allways use default theme recomended, on mybb default theme its so ugly that way no one use it, for 1.8 using apart series its criminal realy becouse that themes have BIG ISSUE with lots of plugin, anyway that its only my opinion its up to mybb developer what they use or not good luck...

It served its purpose for many years. I'm not sure why anyone would use the default theme of a forum software. If you want to brand your forum then using the default theme isn't the way to go at all.

With 1.8 we're not simply dumping Apart in to it and hoping it will work. It's been updated and improved since 2010. The Apart Series and the 1.8 default theme are not the same.

I have different tastes I am not a fan of the default and themes but I find the mybb default theme quite appealing

Then again the new default theme in the works for sme is really nice and modernized

What's bad in the 1.8 default? It looks good enough.

I have no problems with plugins on Apart Dawn theme.

hi everyone, i tried to use it with my forum but something is broken, don't know what: http://exsforum.cu.cc I installed the french pack so this is not the problem :/
