Just read this thread:

I'm glad you're working on it and I hope it's finished soon Smile

I’m finished work for Christmas break now and as such have a couple of days free. A chunk of this time is going to be spent implementing Twig and starting the new theme.

Will the 2.0 theme be able to be used or at least a modified version of it?

Yes, the plan is to re-use as much of the 2.0 theme as possible.

How ugly that is? Any mock-up?
Here are a couple of screenshots from the current (incomplete, work in progress) concepts for the new, responsive theme:

Gotta say, it looks really nice & clean Smile
@Justin will you ensure that the theme passes the Google Mobile Friendly Test?

Based on that screen capture it would.

Yep. Just ran the URL of the test site and it already passes.

Yep. Just ran the URL of the test site and it already passes.

Please continue to do so on your development.  It's going to make a huge difference. Thank you.
@Justin, that design looks amazing! The only thing that is a minor annoyance about it is the last post bit being below the forum's description, it might be a bit better to have a button with an arrow on the rightmost side of the forum bit with a link to the last post just to save a bit of space (a little bit like how IPS4 does it with the user's avatar). Not sure how anyone else feels about it.

In general the design just screams modern Internet without the bloat that comes with that connotation.
That roadmap looks quite alright. A proper mobile-friendly/responsive theme and a more flexible template system are top priority and should be focused on first. Glad the team sees it that way as well. When the look and feel of the software has been brought into the present, you guys can then start focusing on bringing the software up to standards feature-wise, by adding things like alerts, and replacing the obsolete PM system with a conversation-based one, etc.

@Justin - Those concepts look great. Good to see you guys finally embracing last poster avatar, too. May I suggest, thread creator avatar on thread listing as well?

I take it the theme will be coded in html 5 (with elements like header, main, footer, section, aside, etc.), and also refain completely from using tables for layout (or for anything other than tabular data)?
