Well, that's a good theory. If you like the stock look, which I hate.

Yeah, I've never made any meaningful changes to MyBB's appearance or functionality.

Using such an old version makes you very vulnerable, and MyBB 1.8 is going to still have the same fixes from 1.6.5. You're inevitably going to have to fix these issues, so it would be prudent to not put it off much longer. Looking at your forum, I can't imagine you edited many core files. (Also, ironically, it's very similar to MyBB's default design.)

Is this plugin totally stable now? I remember it being pretty wonky when it first launched, but if it does as it says, I'm gonna have to give it a go.
Brad, I use it all the time and I am very happy with it. It has a flaw - that if a user logs in from the newreply/newthread and you have guest posting on then you get an SQL error. But I think most of us have the guest posting off so you would never see that. other than that, it does just what it says on the tin and is easily styled with conditionals. I have a green THING show up on the header if new unreads else hidden.

Green thing is of course a stylistic choice Big Grin
info on conditional styling? Big Grin

I assume you're not talking to me here, despite quoting me? I've made a heap of changes, but I'm on the current version.
Ahh, I got mixed up. Good that you're running the current version. That said, you've not done anything drastic with your forum, certainly nothing that would inhibit upgrading, so it's weird that you used "changing the stock look" as an example.
whoops sorry- that was MyAlerts I hid like that, this already only shows when there are unread posts - but anyway, this is what I used in the unreadPosts_linkCounter

Original Template:

<a href="{$mybb->settings['bburl']}/search.php?action=unreads">{$lang->unreadPostsLink} {$unreadPostsCounter}</a>

My Edit
<a href="{$mybb->settings['bburl']}/search.php?action=unreads"><span class="bossbutton dark">Unread</span><span class="sigbutton ur">{$unreadPostsCounter}</span></a>

Its dodgy HTML span ridden arg - but hey, it worked for how I wanted my header.

Well, it looks massively different to this forum, but if you think it's the same, then fine.

For 1.6.5 - 1.6.8 is stable.
I didn't test it with newest MyBB.

I abandon my MyBB projects so, don't except updates and compatibility with MyBB 1.8. I said, that I don't have time to watch about updates and core files changes, so I tried to report this plugin as "build-in" MyBB function. Unfortunatelly, team was not interested in.
Version 2.9:
- Fix compatibility with Tapatalk

Now tapatalk can correct mark threads as read.
Also, there is no connection error when posting.
