When will the final version be available?
2006-06-07, 04:16 PM
That's a nice question, but the answer isn't so nice. When me or the user base feels it's stable enough, it will be final!
Currently, it's fully functional and the latest issues are fixed and updated on the zip file available on the server.

Hello,
I'm working on a similar thing, but mine I personally think is much better.
Using names in HTML is way too much trouble, trouble with encoding, languages, escaping.
My way I'm working on:
http://site.com/category/24/
http://site.com/thread/24/
And so on, not so fancy for the reader, the search engine enjoys it and it saves so much time with encoding trouble.

When a user clicks on "last page" of a thread (i.e.:http://www.somesite.com/forums/Topic-Here-t-2657-last.html) he receives a "404 Not Found" error.

IMPAQ, please let me know your MyBB version and if you're clicking that link from the "Forum Display" page. Are you using a custom template?
In a normal version and using default template, I have not been able to reproduced the mentioned issue since the link remains as "http://spicefuse.com/showthread.php?action=lastpost&tid=12" and a nofollow is added to it (in html).
Good luck with your modification nvez, I am sure the international users gonna enjoy your mod.

Quote:Hello,Yes, you're probably right with it. Internalization isn't available in this SEO plugin for most utf8 international characters. That's because the URLs can't contain those characters. Anyways, you're missing the main point of using "keywords in url". That's probably a way to go for forums with english language. It helps boost SEO page ranking while the usage of the latter such as /thread/24 doesn't gives much of a SEPR boost. It just gives some good links to search engines (but anyways, the current mybb links are also indexed by google, MSN and yahoo because all support dynamic URL reading. The archive version is also pretty similar.)

Actually it might even cause trouble if any titles have some dash's in them.
The fact in my point is that just the search engine enjoys
/something/something
more than
/index.php?a=b&c=d

It happens to me too.. If you have a multipage thread and you click "last", you get a 404 error. This is not happening if you press "last" when you view a specifc thread... it's only happens on threads list view
