Yes... there is too much java in XF. So it's too slow on slow computers.
Already see a lot of plus for MyBB if you're basing your list on their opinion

Do find them highly unreliable though
The javascript on IPB is killing me too. Not everything needs to slide and fade everywhere. It actually feels slower.
Thanks for response. New design looks much better!
The first time js was a little confusing, but after month it seems must have to me.
Hope MyBB 2.0 will be also good interactive. But it's weird that there are no development discussions about 2.0 version since engine is opensource. It's interesting to know what addon system will be used, how extendable it will be, architecture etc..
I don't think 2.0 is coming out till like mid 2013.

Much of that is internal. We haven't even released 1.8 yet - which is still an important release for us to work on. 1.8 will open up development more as we're moving to Github, as will 2.0 be.

As soon as we know we'll tell you. At this point there's nothing definite. Anything can change, hence why we don't tend to announce x and y feature years before its release in case we change our minds.
This is partially the same reason that people use Microsoft Windows over Linux distributions or Mac OSX. Microsoft markets well and it's just what everyone knows and hears about. Another perfect example, people can program in Java day in and day out, the majority (and I mean like 99%) of corporate industries will request an ASP.NET (C#.NET) developed application because it's what people in the corporate industry are used to hearing about and what is marketed to them.

5 years... I think.

We're not waiting until 2017 to release MyBB 2.0. That's unrealistic.

If the community grows quickly and outgrows the software, then it's time to find an upgrade. There's no point investing £150 for something that might never work, and leaving you stuck with a dormant XF licence.

Hit the nail on the head !
