Definitely not this year. 2.0 is being made completely from scratch, it will take its time.
Here I've read that the layout is goint to be tableless http://community.mybb.com/thread-112329....=tableless (that topic is closed now).

Tables should be used for tabular data and a row with the topic name, post number etc. is tabular data. Please don't make the mistake to avoid tables when they should be used.
I like all the features but I really dislike Yii because only the framework it's about 5mb and the principal thing it's cool of mybb it's that mybb is really light.

I recommend the use of FuelPHP or doing your own framework based on MVC and mybb will not depend from other developers

I actually agree. From the little experience that I have using Yii, it's a horrible framework. I'd love to see MyBB using Fuel though - it's actively developed, up to date and lightweight. It's also incredibly easy to develop for thanks primarily to Oil.
We agreed to wait and see what Yii 2 brought before a final decision is taken on framework. This is why we tend not to release information before we're certain. Shy
One can only hope Yii 2 is a bit better then Wink I can live with Yii if it is indeed chosen in the end, but I'm not a massive fan of the current version.
I never liked Yii's syntax... But that is just personal preference.
I honestly like the current theme system, why not just keep that?

I'd far prefer Twig. Twig is much easier to use and has many more features than the current system. For instance, you can perform loops and can use conditional statements - both are features I'd use a lot while developing themes and plugins personally.

Seriously, I think of idiots waiting for Yii 2.0, when they can try other Frameworks and see how it goes. And we expect more ..
