phpBB has paid developers, and it took them several years to release their phpBB 3.0 which still is in it's beta phase.

The MyBB devs are not getting paid, and we don't even need half of the time phpBB uses to release a big update.

And we are all greatful for the time and effort they have put into getting 1.4 ready however long it takes the features we will gain will give MyBB an even bigger user base.

Plus who really likes PhpBB now anyway MyBB already rocks in comparison.

I think 1.4 will be a nice chrissy present for us all and i will await its arrival patiently.

I see from posts we will have an updated 1.2 version soon???

I think 1.2.10 will have several bugs fixed, but 1.4 will be the huge release.

Actually PHPBB3 is at RC 5. Pretty amazing to see a RC 5. Isnt it normal to just have a couple of RC's ( 2 MAYBE 3 ) and then Gold?

And sence when did thier developers start getting paid?

Oh and no need to compare to them. Heck as it is right now the Mybb 1.2+ series is way ahead of phpbb3. All 1.4 will do is crush them into the stone age. LOL
In short, They ( phpbb ) have ALOT of catching up to do as it is now with mybb 1.2.9!

Oh and it took phpbb 5YEARS almost to upgrade. HORRIBLY slow development. Wasnt for mybb i am about certain i would be using IPB for both of my forums.

IMHO, myBB is growing way to fast and better than any other system out there. For example the one you've been talking about phpBB, I never liked it, it's way too basic and really slow for updates. Back in the days it was the best free forum system... but myBB really owned.

Anyways, I hope it's ready for end of october XD... can't... wait....

But if you require more time, well, there's nothing we can do about it... right?
