Its not like MyBB 1.6 will be released before February...

Best to avoid the date he mentioned and go by this. Major releases are 1.2, 1.4, and then 1.6 and so forth. Thats means all releases between 1.4 and 1.6 ( 1.4.1, 1.4.2 etc )will be small ones and thus wont have the PHP 5 requirements.

The reason i am saying to avoid the date is because the release of 1.4 has already been pushed back a few times and it could again. All depends on how the beta testing/bug finding goes. And thus again the thing to remember is that this PHP 5 wont happen till 1.6 whenever that is.

Each "odd" version is a development version that won't be released to the public, IIRC.

the only thing I've read about that topic is that 1.3 didn't released because there is huge difference between 1.2 and the new version so mybb decided to call it 1.4...
