Did he jsut wake up one day and be like. "Nah its better free." or did he have issues thinking it wouldn't be that great if it was commercial?

I am spending a lot of time with building and recreating my forum that is build with MyBB.
But How many time spent a admin or moderator or any other staff on MyBB.
