Google SEO should work with 1.9.
Future releases should start to roll in some better SEO features such as meta descriptions, canonical links, sitemaps, etc.
I'm mainly concerned with the links, since the plugin makes the links SEO friendly. Anyway how's it going so far? Will 1.9 be completed by April?
Thanks in advance

The template conversion is a steady process - the progress of which is easiest tracked in this issue:
https://github.com/mybb/mybb/issues/2972
There is some other work to do as well as translating templates, such as updating the ACP to edit the template files rather than templates stored in the database, and fixing up the theme system to use the new template system, but progress is looking quite good so far.
I'm hopeful that we'll have an Alpha release by the end of April at the latest. Hopefully we'll get even further than that and have Beta/RC releases by that time too, but it depends upon how may bugs/issues turn out with further testing.

I hope that for the desktop version the characters are smaller!

I think it's same, but monitor on pc is bigger so it will be ok
But you can change that in css anyway.

I heard it is useful for SEO ....
Yes I believe the new theme for 1.9 is being constructed with schema support.
Yep, the plan is to use it where it makes sense to do so, without going overboard and trying to mark everything up with structured data.

Wow! Keep up the good work
Yeah, progress has been really great so far! We still have quite a lot of work to do, but things are looking good at the minute.
I haven't had time to do a progress update post in a few weeks now, so I'll have to make up for that this weekend
