Might not be the best place to ask, but:

Is the github "feature" branch part of 1.8 or 1.9?

Moreover, is the API of 1.9 stable to the point that a specification of migration from 1.8 to 1.9 for themes, plugins etc. will be provided in advance of new 1.9 pre-releases? It would be nice to have that on hand so those of us with custom installations can inform our devs of what's to come and plan out things.

I suppose the larger looming question of how far along the rebase is done is a question here, but that's one that many others have asked so I won't ask it.

Currently, 1.8 - see https://github.com/mybb/mybb/blob/featur...d#branches

Themes will have to be re-created using Twig template syntax, new HTML structure, and new CSS selectors.

Similarly, plugins that modify default templates will have to be adjusted.

There might be limited support for plugins that add and render custom templates created for 1.8 (see Old System Plugin Compatibility in https://community.mybb.com/thread-232217...pid1366653).

Otherwise, no major breaking changes for plugins are expected.
Wew lad, it's been a long time since I've logged in.

Browsing the 1.9-theme-framework repository, I noticed a Sass component for alerts (_alerts.scss), is this just a holdover from the 2.0 development days, or have core alerts been moved up to 1.9?

Other than that, good to see Twig being implemented in 1.9. I don't have to fart around figuring out which template variables are valid in what template(s) anymore!
Any update on progress?

Core alerts/notification systems aren't planned for 1.9
It has been 44 months since this thread started. Looking forward to the release one day.

They were saying after 1.8.27 was released that more focus would be on 1.9.

And now it like it is back to square one, no updates on progress at all.

I really feel MyBB is just at a dead end.
Is there any official update?

Setting a date for the first alpha might help focus and moving things along.

The MyBB community want to help test and debug 1.9 but there is nothing we can do. I want to believe in MyBB, but we need some feedback from official sources.
same comment from a few months ago...

I think it could be clearer the state of rebase progress.
many will look at the link below end up thinking that things stopped in time.

do not take this as criticism, it is just a suggestion to show the community that progress is being made in the development of 1.9.
We gonna live on mars until this gets released
