Hey after the 2.0 update and a new theme, the missing 'username' came back. And I have no idea where the global.lang file is now? or is it renamed? idk.

unable to get side boxes on a custom php page (not coded through page manager)
not sure if global_start hook works on custom pages though global.php is included

Edit 1: I could get the side boxes by adding the script definition !!

define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'custompage.php');

also added a custom hook in the file and used it to get the ASB

$plugins->run_hooks("custompage_start");

Edit 2:
however the custom boxes contents are not appearing on the custom pages
but they are appearing on the regular forum pages (eg. index, forumdisplay)

Sorry .m. I am still afk for the most part-- no access to a PC a this time.

^ at present I've modified my custom php file to use the template system,
changed variables output to template edit and got back the contents in custom boxes.

my OO knowledge is very poor, unable to trace the exact cause.
however build_template($template_variable) in the custom.php file might need checking
I am unable to find where & how $$template_variable is used to edit the templates ..

looked at your custom page .... the structure does not make sense are you trying to create a custom side box or a custom script ?
